Solving the persistent problem of empty return trips
Long waits to fill a vehicle and empty return journeys push fares higher and waste fuel in intercity passenger transport. AI Orbit v4, built by Vietnamese engineers at GOZON R&D Lab, is designed to address both problems.
By combining billions of historical mobility data points with live traffic and weather information, the system forecasts demand up to 48 hours ahead for specific routes and local areas.
“AI Orbit v4 turns a fragmented ride-sharing network into a flexible mobility supply chain, matching passengers accurately without disrupting a driver's route.”
Operational results at nationwide scale
After a three-month pilot in the Red River Delta and central coast, the fourth-generation system has been rolled out across GOZON's network in all 63 provinces.
Average passenger pickup waits fell from 22 minutes to 14 minutes. Empty return trips declined by 22%, while driver-partner average earnings rose by 28% as more kilometres were completed with passengers.
- •Cut passenger pickup waits by 18% through intelligent demand matching.
- •Reduce empty trips by 22%, saving millions of litres of fuel each quarter.
- •Increase average take-home earnings for intercity driver partners by 28%.
Opening the platform through an Open API
In the fourth quarter of 2026, GOZON plans to open its API so local transport operators and independent logistics companies can connect directly to the AI Orbit dispatch core.
The initiative is intended to create a more connected, transparent and technology-enabled intercity transport market for Vietnam's digital economy.
